Polyolefin Hot-Melt Technology Targets Cleaner Processing and Stronger Bonding
Dow, a global materials science company, offers AFFINITY™ GA 1900, a polyolefin material designed for hot-melt adhesive applications including packaging, nonwovens, pressure-sensitive products, woodworking, and industrial assembly.
For adhesive formulators and manufacturers, the material is designed to provide strong bond performance over a broad temperature range while supporting stable viscosity and clean processing. According to Dow, AFFINITY™ GA 1900 also provides high green strength and rapid set during compression cycles.
Dow states that the material can help reduce common hot-melt processing issues such as stringing, spider webbing, gel formation, and char buildup. These characteristics may help reduce downtime and support more consistent adhesive application in production environments.
The product also offers low color, reduced yellowing, and lower odor, making it suitable for applications where both processing performance and finished-product appearance are important.
Within packaging applications, Dow positions AFFINITY™ GA materials as an alternative to conventional EVA-based hot melts, with benefits that include strong adhesion, cleaner running, and more consistent bead placement.
For manufacturers using hot-melt adhesives in packaging, assembly, woodworking, or nonwoven production, the technology provides another formulation option where bond strength, processing efficiency, and adhesive mileage are key requirements.
