New Methacrylate Adhesive For Interior and Exterior Surface Fabrication Applications

Integra Adhesives has introduced Horizon™, a two-part methacrylate adhesive intended for use across both interior and exterior surface fabrication applications. According to the company, the product is designed to address challenges fabricators face when maintaining separate adhesive systems for different environments.

As outdoor living installations continue to expand, surface materials such as quartz, porcelain, ceramic, and sintered stone are increasingly specified for both indoor and outdoor use. Integra Adhesives reports that Horizon was developed to support this trend by offering a single adhesive solution for multiple applications.

“Horizon eliminates the indoor-outdoor decision entirely,” said Scott McDowell, President of IPS Adhesives, noting that the product uses the same color palette as Integra’s existing Zero and Ultra adhesive lines.

The company states that Horizon has been evaluated for UV resistance and environmental durability. According to Integra Adhesives, accelerated UV testing resulted in color stability values below commonly cited visibility thresholds, while ASTM D1183-03 temperature cycling tests showed minimal loss of bond strength following exposure.

Integra Adhesives also reports that Horizon provides fabrication-focused features such as non-sag behavior for vertical bonding, a moderate working time window, and compatibility with a range of commonly used surface materials. The company noted that the adhesive is formulated with low VOC content and carries GREENGUARD Gold certification.

Rachel Trumbo, Technical Manager at IPS Adhesives, said the company encourages fabricators to review test data when evaluating adhesives for outdoor applications, including UV exposure results and post-cycling bond strength performance.

Horizon is currently available through Integra Adhesives’ distribution channels in North America.
