New Acrylic Polymer Targets Peel Adhesion and Shear Performance in Adhesive Formulations
Engineered Polymer Solutions, a supplier of performance resins and colorants for adhesive, construction, architectural, and industrial applications, has introduced EPS® 2180, a high-solids all-acrylic polymer designed for use in adhesive and sealant formulations.
According to the company, the polymer is intended to help formulators balance peel adhesion with shear strength, including at elevated temperatures. Potential applications include vinyl flooring adhesives, film-to-film lamination, and plasticizer-free pigmented caulks.
EPS® 2180 is supplied at 60% solids and is designed to provide broad adhesion, high-temperature shear resistance, and plasticizer resistance. The company also stated that the product is made without APEOs or fluorosurfactants.
For formulators, the new polymer may provide additional flexibility when developing waterborne acrylic systems that need to maintain both adhesion and shear properties across demanding applications.
