New 20% Low-PCF Hydrocarbon Resins for Adhesives & Sealants
New and easily distinguished and identifiable 20% low-PCF products for adhesives and sealants are now available. Synthomer released the new product under the CLIMA brand tag. The company states that these products deliver at least a 20% reduction in the product carbon footprint (PCF) compared to a specified baseline year, which is achieved through use of more energy-efficient methods or the use of renewable energy in the production process.
The first CLIMA branded products under the REGALITE™ family, are hydrocarbon resins manufactured on Synthomer’s Middelburg, Netherlands site, which are now commercially available.
“We are offering products with a validated and quantifiable CO2 footprint reduction, which can be counted against our customers’ goals, aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative,” said Michaela Hofbauer, vice president of sustainable innovation and marketing for Synthomer’s Adhesive Solutions division.
“Reducing the industry’s carbon footprint is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration along the whole value chain. We aim to create value for customers and consumers and help them achieve their sustainability goals.”
“By providing our customers with the transparency they need to understand the environmental impact of the products they rely on, we can enable them to make more informed decisions about sustainability,” said Chris Brown, vice president of environment, social and governance at Synthomer.
CLIMA is the latest addition to Synthomer’s brand tags, bringing additional clarity and transparency to its customers and value chains. Synthomer’s current brand tags include BIO, highlighting products with at least 20% bio-based certified content, helping to reduce reliance on fossil-based resources, and CIRCLE, highlighting products with at least 20% circular certified content, supporting a circular economy.
