IPS Adhesives Acquisition Expands Access to Structural and Surfacing Adhesive Technologies

IPS Adhesives, a manufacturer of structural and surfacing adhesive technologies, has been acquired by Matrix Adhesives Group, a North American provider of adhesive and sealant products, private-label manufacturing, and specialty packaging services.

According to the companies, the combination expands the range of adhesive technologies available to customers in architectural surfacing, building and construction, transportation, marine manufacturing, industrial fabrication, and sign and display applications.

The acquisition includes established IPS Adhesives brands such as Integra Adhesives and Unika® for countertop and architectural surfacing applications, along with the SCIGRIP Adhesives® structural product line.

For fabricators and manufacturers, the combination may provide broader access to methyl methacrylate adhesives, color-matching technologies, structural bonding products, and application support through a larger combined organization. MMA adhesives are used in applications requiring relatively rapid curing, limited surface preparation, and bonding of dissimilar materials.

Scott McDowell, President of IPS Adhesives, said joining Matrix will provide IPS with additional scale and resources while allowing the company to continue supporting customers with its existing products and technical expertise.

The transaction also brings IPS Adhesives’ European operations and distributor relationships into the Matrix platform, potentially expanding product availability and support across additional international markets.
