Award Winning Hygiene Adhesive Targets Recycling and Manufacturing Performance

Bostik has announced that its Kizen® Miles 9.0 adhesive was recognized at the INDEX™ 26 Awards for innovation in hygiene applications, reflecting growing interest in adhesive systems that support both product performance and end-of-life material recovery.

According to the company, one of the main challenges in disposable absorbent hygiene products is the separation of multi-layer materials during recycling. Bostik stated that Kizen® Miles 9.0 was specifically developed to enable controlled separation of components at the end of the product lifecycle.

The company said that under defined conditions involving a targeted chemical agent, controlled temperature, and mechanical stress, the adhesive breaks down within minutes. This process is intended to allow cleaner separation of materials and reduce contamination between plastic streams, which may support more efficient recycling.

Bostik also reported that the adhesive provides bonding across substrates including PP, PE, and PLA, with stable performance in humid conditions and consistency in high-speed manufacturing operations. According to the company, the formulation includes up to 75% renewable materials, which may help reduce carbon footprint compared with fossil-based alternatives.

For hygiene product manufacturers, the development reflects ongoing efforts to balance process performance, material compatibility, and sustainability requirements in absorbent hygiene applications.
