Henkel Launches Tin-Free Adhesive Sealant for Heavy Equipment Applications
Henkel has launched Teroson MS 9381 HPT, a new adhesive sealant for heavy equipment and vehicle applications including cabin window glazing, side panel and roof skin bonding, and seam and joint sealing.
According to Henkel, the product is a single-component, moisture-cure SMP adhesive sealant formulated without tin, solvents, isocyanates, silicones, or PVC. The company stated that the material is intended to support both application efficiency and compliance with evolving environmental and safety requirements.
For manufacturers and assembly operations, Henkel said the product simplifies processing by reducing application to two steps rather than the three-step process commonly required with conventional polyurethane materials. The company also reported that the sealant’s high thixotropy and high position tack are intended to support handling and placement during assembly.
Henkel stated that the adhesive sealant is UV resistant and compatible with multiple substrates, allowing it to be used across a range of heavy equipment sealing and bonding applications. The company also noted that using one material for multiple applications may help reduce inventory and sourcing complexity.
In addition, Henkel reported that the formulation eliminates several substances of very high concern and may offer cradle-to-gate carbon footprint reductions of up to 50% compared with traditional polyurethane processes, based on its internal environmental assessment tool.
