Bio-Based Flooring Adhesive Targets Flexible Installation and Moisture Resistance
XL Brands, a Bostik company that provides flooring installation adhesives and related products, has introduced InnoStix PSA Pressure Sensitive Adhesive for carpet tile and multiple vinyl flooring applications.
According to the company, the adhesive is designed to provide strong initial tack while allowing carpet tiles to be removed and re-bonded when replacement is needed. The solvent-free, low-odor formulation is also intended to support low-VOC indoor air quality requirements.
InnoStix PSA can be used with vinyl-backed and non-vinyl-backed modular carpet tile, luxury vinyl tile and plank, vinyl sheet flooring, vinyl composition tile, and fiberglass-reinforced sheet vinyl.
For flooring contractors, the adhesive is engineered to perform on concrete substrates with relative humidity levels up to 95% and pH levels up to 10.0, potentially providing greater flexibility on projects where elevated moisture conditions are present.
The product is USDA BioPreferred® Certified with 32% biobased content. Bostik also reports that it may reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 34% compared with standard pressure-sensitive adhesives and may contribute toward LEED® v4 EQ credits on applicable projects.
The formulation also incorporates MicroSept® Advanced Antimicrobial Protection, which the company says helps resist bacterial and fungal growth throughout the installation.
