Rapid-Curing Flashing Membrane Targets Faster Waterproofing Installation
W. R. MEADOWS, a North American manufacturer of concrete construction, waterproofing, joint sealing, and building envelope materials, has introduced HYDROWRAP PUMA FLASHING, a liquid-applied membrane designed to speed waterproofing detailing at critical transitions.
According to the company, the membrane cures rapidly, eliminates the need for reinforcing fabric, and can become traffic safe in approximately one hour. When properly catalyzed, it can also cure at temperatures as low as 15°F (-10°C), potentially helping contractors continue waterproofing work during colder conditions.
HYDROWRAP PUMA FLASHING is designed for areas particularly vulnerable to water intrusion, including deck-to-wall intersections, corners, cracks, joints, penetrations, and wall-to-wall tie-ins. W. R. MEADOWS stated that the flexible membrane also provides protection against chlorides, deicing salts, chemicals, gasoline, oils, and antifreeze.
For contractors, reducing cure time and eliminating reinforcing fabric may simplify detailing and allow subsequent construction activities to begin sooner. The product can be used on concrete, metal, and exterior-grade wood substrates.
Donnie Kruger, Building Envelope Product Manager for W. R. MEADOWS, said waiting for detailing materials to cure can delay later phases of construction and that the new system was developed to reduce those delays while maintaining waterproofing performance.
The membrane is supported by compatible primers, catalyst, and cleaning products and can be used with W. R. MEADOWS’ HRM 714 hot-applied rubberized asphalt waterproofing system for applications such as plaza decks, green roofs, parking decks, tunnels, and bridge decks.
