Kuraray Centennial Highlights a Century of Specialty Materials Development
Kuraray Co., Ltd., a global specialty chemicals manufacturer, has marked its 100th anniversary, reflecting a century of materials development and international expansion.
Founded in Japan in 1926, the company began with synthetic rayon and has since developed a portfolio that includes PVA fiber, PVOH resin, CLARINO™ man-made leather, and EVAL™ EVOH resin. These materials support a range of industrial and consumer applications across global markets.
Kuraray now operates in 32 countries and regions, providing customers with access to specialty materials, technical expertise, and manufacturing capabilities across multiple geographies.
At the company’s anniversary ceremony, President Hitoshi Kawahara said Kuraray intends to strengthen collaboration across regions, technologies, and business units through its “One Kuraray” approach.
For manufacturers and other end users, the milestone highlights the company’s continued focus on connecting materials expertise and global resources to support future product development and application needs.
