New Guangzhou TPU Center Expands Application Development Support in Asia-Pacific
Covestro has opened a new TPU Application Development Center in Guangzhou, China, aimed at supporting customers across Asia-Pacific with material development, pilot production, and technical collaboration.
According to the company, the new center complements its TPU production facility in Zhuhai and its regional R&D center in Changhua, Taiwan, creating a network intended to connect product development, application support, and manufacturing more closely within the region.
Covestro stated that the Guangzhou center was developed in response to continued TPU demand in sectors such as consumer electronics, automotive, and specialty films. For manufacturers and product developers, the site is intended to provide closer access to technical support for formulation changes, production simulation, and troubleshooting.
The company reported that the center includes processing simulation lines designed to mirror actual production conditions, which may help customers evaluate formulations and make material adjustments more efficiently. Covestro also stated that co-location of its Engineering Plastics and Specialty Films teams is intended to support faster collaboration across applications such as electronics, footwear, paint protection films, and extrusion-based products.
Dr. Andrea Maier-Richter of Covestro said the center is intended to support development of TPU applications in areas including robotics, healthcare, and mobility. According to the company, the facility is now open for customer and partner collaboration throughout Asia-Pacific.
