EcoVadis Assessment Highlights Progress in WACKER’s Sustainability Programs
WACKER has announced that its most recent EcoVadis sustainability assessment resulted in a score of 79 out of 100, up from 77 in the previous year.
According to the company, the improvement reflects expanded reporting and additional initiatives related to Scope 3 emissions management and corporate ethics. EcoVadis assessments evaluate sustainability management practices using internationally recognized standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
The EcoVadis scorecard reviews company performance across environmental impact, labor and human rights practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Peter Gigler, head of WACKER’s ESG department, said the improved rating provides customers with third-party validation of the company’s sustainability initiatives.
WACKER reports that it shares the EcoVadis assessment results with customers to support transparency around sustainability practices across the supply chain.
The company has also established long-term climate targets. According to WACKER, its goal is to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 compared with 2020 levels. The company reports that it had already achieved a 30% reduction by 2024 and has set a target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2045.
For manufacturers and downstream users, sustainability ratings such as EcoVadis are increasingly used as part of supplier evaluation and procurement processes, according to industry practices.
