Reusable Adhesive Dispensing System Targets Performance Consistency and Waste Reduction

Big Dog Adhesives has introduced RELOAD™, a reusable adhesive dispensing platform intended to support consistent delivery of two-component structural adhesives while reducing packaging waste. The system is expected to be commercially available beginning in 2026.

According to the company, RELOAD was developed to address challenges end users face with conventional cartridge systems, including inconsistent metering, adhesive exposure to air and moisture, and material waste. Big Dog Adhesives reports that the reusable platform, combined with foil-based packaging, can reduce single-use cartridge waste by up to 99%.

RELOAD is designed to stabilize adhesive delivery by supporting accurate 1:1 and 10:1 mix ratios and maintaining consistent flow during dispensing, according to the company. Big Dog Adhesives stated that the flexible foil packaging helps minimize trapped air and reduces residual material left behind after dispensing.

“RELOAD preserves adhesive performance characteristics because the chemistry was designed to operate in this format,” said Lori Giovannini, co-founder of Big Dog Adhesives. She noted that isolating adhesive components from oxygen and moisture may help maintain material integrity during storage and use.

The company reports that the system is compatible with its portfolio of structural adhesives used across a range of substrates, and that RELOAD does not require new dispensing guns or proprietary static mixer tips. According to Big Dog Adhesives, the platform was engineered to work with existing manual and pneumatic dispensing equipment.

RELOAD assemblies and compatible adhesive foils are expected to be available in multiple sizes, including 1:1 and 10:1 configurations. Engineering data and performance documentation will be available upon request, according to the company.
